I started in Mental Health Nursing in 1980 and trained at Woodilee Hospital in Lenzie. I am a Registered Mental Health Nurse with wide experience in care of older people with dementia and the delivery of psychosocial interventions including reminiscence therapy in both NHS and Independent Sector.

For the last 11 years I have been working as an active researcher in a research team as a Practice Development Fellow, focussing on practice improvement within healthcare of older people and research involving older people, family carers; and health and social care professionals.

I have been lucky to work on a number of European Projects and have developed and facilitated European and National online and face-to-face Communities of Practice within gerontological care sectors.

Around 18 months ago I returned to teaching undergraduate students and am module leader for a couple of undergraduate Mental Health Nursing modules and have input to other DipHE/BN modules and MSc Dissertation supervision.

I hold an Honorary Contract with GG&C as an Honorary Cognitive Stimulation Therapist.

Just recently I became a trustee of a Charity called 'Playlist for Life' which seeks to support the development of therapeutic personalised music interventions for people with dementia.
